Visits from Uncle Brian are some of Isaac's favorite times, so he was very happy to have him in Cancun for 10 days in February. Adam and Brian went to Cozumel for a few days to dive, and also to Tulum for the day. We did not take many pictures, but the few I have are posted below.
Isaac the troublemaker just loves getting into things he shouldn't, like pulling a whole shelf full of books into his crib when he's supposed to be napping, or bonking Uncle Brian on the head with a balloon. (By the way, that is a balloon that we got when he was born! And it is still fully inflated!) Now that Brian's gone back to Tulsa, Isaac misses his "roomie."
Isaac got his very first birthday party invitation, from a co-worker of mine whose daughter turned three. They went all out with a bouncy house, mole poblano for the adults (a typical Mexican dish), pizza for the kids (an international favorite), cake, and a piñata. As the littlest kid at the party, Isaac got to hit the piñata first, which I helped him with. He liked it so much he took another turn, then another, then another! By the last turn, he was able to hit it all by himself. There is a Mexican piñata-hitting chant which everyone does and it lasts about 20 seconds, and when it's over, everyone claps and the next kid gets a turn. Once everyone started clapping, Isaac put the stick down and clapped too. Then the next kid took the stick and Isaac threw a fit. All four times. Our toddler years are officially here!
