This past weekend was Mexican Independence Day, and Emma and Eduardo were baptized on Saturday. The families were spending the weekend at Paradisus La Esmeralda in Playa del Carmen, which is a Melia hotel, so Adam and I decided to stay there as well. On Friday afternoon, Adam brought Isaac into the office to pick me up, and I had a chance to show him off to my co-workers. We headed straight to the hotel, about an hour south of Cancun. We got in and had a late dinner with the two families. (Note: even though I have several pictures of swim-up suites, we did not stay in one. The normal rooms are really nice though. Wish I'd gotten a picture before we messed it up.)
The next morning we were all up early since the baptisms were at 10:00am. Unfortunately Emma had come down with a fever. She toughed it out through the ceremony though, and her parents took her to the pediatrician after the baptism (throat infection, she'll be fine with some medicine). The baptisms went well, they took place in a very small, very picturesque chapel right on 5th Avenue in Playa del Carmen. After that, Eduardo's family (Itzel, Emilio Sr & Emilio Jr), Adam, Isaac and I went back to the hotel and got in the pool. Later in the afternoon we took a nap and watched Notre Dame beat Michigan State. At night we joined everyone down at the hotel's Gabi Club to celebrate Mexican Independence Day.
Sunday morning we had breakfast and headed home. We showed Isaac some videos we'd taken of him, and he seemed to like watching himself.
