Christmas with Grandma Kathy

I'm a little behind on my blog-posting but we've been busy!  Grandma Kathy came down for Christmas, then my sister Theresa, her husband and son came last weekend, now this weekend my other sister Beth comes!  I'll start with Christmas.

Grandma Kathy (Tita) came down on December 23 and stayed through the 31st.  Around that time, Isaac started sitting up by himself!  There are some pictures below, although now a few weeks later, he sits up much better.  In fact he is sitting on the bed eating Adam's belt right now as I'm writing this.

Below is also a picture of Ike's nanny Diony, who sweet-talked one of the gardeners into cutting up a coconut from the trees out back.  We had no idea what to do with it, but she showed us how to extract the water inside, then cut up the meat of the coconut.

On Christmas Eve, Tita, Adam, Isaac and I went to Lucy and Eric's house for a hybrid American-Mexican Christmas dinner.  She served ham, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie, along with romeritos and bacalao.  Ike and Emma enjoyed playing with a Santa Claus doll that sings "Feliz Navidad," at least until Eric had enough and hid it on the top shelf.  Isaac also became obsessed with Emma's activity center, which you can see pictured below and is basically a seat that holds him upright while surrounded by toys.  He could not decide which one he liked best and frantically grabbed onto one toy, then the next, then the one behind him!

The next day, on Christmas Day, we had everyone over to our house for turkey.  Isaac got some nifty gifts from his aunts (thanks ladies!) and I got a surprise gift from Adam of a beautiful jewelry case!  Isaac helped me open it.

Later in the week, Tita and I went to Wal-Mart where she bought Isaac his first high chair.  We also went to La Isla mall a few times to hit up the Starbucks and get some of their cheesy bread (pan de queso) that I've only seen here in Mexico.  We got Ike to make some faces in his chair, hung out on the back patio and watched the sunset over the lagoon, and went for a walk on the beach.  Then Tita went back, but we're looking forward to her next visit, hopefully this summer with (great) Aunt Becky!
