Last weekend we had a little pool time with Isaac, who loves the water. First we went to the pool right behind our house with Isaac in his floatie. Then we went to the pool next door, which has a large shallow area that he can crawl around on. He really enjoyed playing with the water spout.

He spends a lot of time on his feet now, holding onto a table leg or the sofa and cruising around the house that way. Diony wraps a blanket around his chest and under his arms to hold him up, and he toddles all over the place, even right out the front door. He's gotten so used to this system that when we try to get him to walk around while we hold him up around the rib cage, or hold his hand, he pushes us away like he's saying, "I can do it!" He can just barely grab onto the edge of the table or high chair, and he tries to pull himself up on it, even pawing at the table leg with his feet like he wants to climb up it.
The yoga mat barrier is no deterrant anymore, so for awhile we used 20-liter jugs of water. Now we just move the coffee table over in front of the stairs. He hasn't yet figured out that he can crawl under it. There's a pic of Isaac below standing behind the stroller barrier that we put against the wall, where all the cables are.
Ike also loves to feed himself. He'll eat almost anything if he can feed it to himself. He can go through Cheerios like nobody's business, and he'll even eat sweet potato chunks, like in the photos below. He's also learning to drink out of a cup, and actually prefers the regular cup to the sippy cup, which so far he just bites.
We finally transitioned him to his crib from his rocker-sleeper, after Adam found him one morning sitting on the floor pulling books off the shelf. We have no idea how he got out of his straps and shimmied down the side of the rocker onto the floor without going headfirst. That was the last night he slept in the rocker. He did not like the crib at first and did not nap at all for a few days, but exhaustion eventually won out and he's sleeping great in the crib now. Although he likes to cuddle up against the edge, and also enjoys sitting against the netting and bouncing his head against it.
In many ways he is starting to seem less like a baby and more like a little boy. He walks around (although not alone yet), chats up a storm, explores and tastes every nook and cranny, and doesn't want to snuggle with Mom and Dad anymore. He is definitely starting to assert his independence.
