In Sickness and in Health

About two weeks ago, Isaac's nanny took a week's vacation, and we started dropping him off at daycare (the same one that his friend Emma goes to downtown).  He had a good time and the ladies there just raved about him, but on the third day they called me to come pick him up, since he had a bit of a temperature (100 F).  He was pretty hot, and we gave him a cool bath and put him to bed.  The next day he was fine, but started coughing and hasn't stopped since.  We called the pediatrician who prescribed some medication, but finally on Friday we went to see her.  Although his energy, sleeping, and appetite are all fine, apparently he has a throat infection that he can't shake.  Now he has to take four different medications, including an antibiotic, for a week.

At least now we know what it is and are on the road to recovery.  Only along the way both Adam and I have felt a bit under the weather.

Speaking of which, it's getting hot!  Although this winter has been cool for way longer than normal, it's finally time to turn on the A/C and start mentally preparing for those scary electric bills.  It's the perfect weather for going to the beach or pool, though.

Below are a bunch of pictures from the last few weeks.  We got new sunshades out by the pool.  Ike is now very adept at opening drawers and emptying the contents of such at lightning speed.  Even though he has a lot of fancy toys within reach, he much prefers to chew on an empty toilet paper tube.  Since he's gotten so good at climbing up stairs (but not so much down), we constructed a barrier composed of my yoga mat and a step stool, to keep him from coming up into the dining room.  Of course, he loves to peek over it and chew on it.  Since we took these pictures, that barrier lasted about a week before he learned to crawl right up the side of it and up the steps.  We colored Easter eggs using the Paas set my dad brought down.  Isaac loves to chew on everything, especially things that are not his toys, such as a remote control and my flip flop.  Emma came over, and everyone was having a good time until Isaac pulled her hands off the umbrella pole that she was holding herself up on, causing her to fall and bite her lip, out of which blood started to gush.  It looked bad but her mom Lucy assured me that she's OK.  Ike hates getting dressed but loves playing with his diapers (clean ones only, although I'm sure he'd play with the dirty ones if he had the chance).  I got a shot of the pirate ship that tours the lagoon in the evenings.  Isaac eats Cheerios, looks cute on the lawn, and the last pic is one of my favorites, where he randomly has a really excited face.

And boy can he climb upstairs!
