Isaac is quite the adventurer now. He loves to walk, walk, walk, especially if he can hold something in his hands. He can climb up stairs but not down, so when he has to go down, he reaches out for an adult's hand. He loves walks outside, doggies, and helicopters. He likes to sit on the bottom step and contemplate life. He also enjoys chewing on his new toothbrush. Sometimes when I come home for lunch, Isaac will meet me at the car, holding a flower.
I decided to make cookies one day (my favorite oatmeal chocolate chip), but when I opened the bag of chocolate chips I got a big surprise - they had melted and then re-harded into one big chunk! I can only imagine the bags of chocolate chips in the back of a big hot truck on their way to the store. Luckily I have a kitchen hammer for pounding meat, and in this case, chocolate. As I was doing all this, Isaac was playing with the lids for the pots, which are handily in the bottom drawer for his easy access. I turned my head to take a look at him, and he had climbed inside the drawer! He also evaded the baby barrier I had put up to keep him in.
Other things he likes to do are push things around, like his high chair. He pulls everything that he can reach off the table. We put all his toys under the changing table, and that's the only place that he'll sit still and play (also loves to open the Diaper Genie). Lately he's been bringing us his books, and he'll stand there, or sit in our laps, while we read them.
The last week of July was Eric's and Lucy's birthdays, which are two days apart. Emma and Isaac shared a sitter while we celebrated with sushi and martinis.
