The weekend of January 12-13 the Bowlan family (aka my youngest sister Theresa, her husband Brandan, and their almost 2-year-old Braedan) came down to Cancun for a visit, and to meet Ike. I realized that we don't have very many pictures of the visit, probably because we were all chasing after Brady the whole time! Definitely a little taste of what's to come.
I picked them up at the airport and within 30 seconds, Brady has pushed every button on the car's main console, checked out the DVD player, and was intent on trying to honk the horn. Eventually his parents wrestled him into his car seat and we got to the house.
They very kindly brought down a running stroller for us, which I don't have pictured here but will post at a later date. We took it out for a test run with Brady. As I'm used to running alone, it was nice to have company. The stroller worked great and Brady got a flying view of the Cancun hotel zone. Poor Brandan didn't fare as well though, as he decided to run sans shirt and got a fierce sunburn within a short amount of time.
With the two kiddos, we spent a lot of time at home, which was fine with me. Brady was a little out of his element at first, but warmed up to his new situation just in time to go home, of course. He likes to help out in the kitchen, mainly by closing any doors or drawers that may be open, checking out what's in the fridge, and opening and closing the microwave door. He wasn't sure what to make of his cousin, though, and didn't want to have anything to do with him!
We all went for a dip in the pool at the clubhouse, which was recently updated with heating so it's a comfortable temperature. It also has a nice big kiddie pool, and two playgrounds, one for little kids and one for bigger kids. Both the kids enjoyed the water, as you can see from the pictures below.
Theresa and I were able to spend some sister time too, as she accompanied me and Ike on a shopping trip and she and I went for drinks and dinner at La Isla, right near the house.
We all had a good time and hope that it won't be another year before we get together again!
