Isaac's Baptism
Today Isaac was baptized at Nuestra Señora del Carmen Church in Playa del Carmen, about an hour's drive south of Cancun.  Grandma had bought him the "kit," pictured below, which includes a candle, a shell for scooping the baptismal water over his head, and a towel to dry him off.  Lucy and Eric were his godparent...

Mother's Day, Puerto Morelos, and Standing Up!
This last week was a busy one!  My new boss started two weeks ago but only arrived in Cancun on Monday, and so far everything looks very positive.  Since he's here and his boss, the VP are in town, it's meant longer work hours this week and no lunches at home. On Tuesday morning I was heading out the door when Isaac stood up on...

Little Prince
Wednesday was a holiday here in Mexico and in the rest of the world (Labor Day).  Ike and I went for a run in the morning and saw a crab just "hanging out" on a sign.  Isaac has to wear a hat to protect him from the sun, but he is not a big fan, despite looking pleased in the picture below. We've been trying to read more to...

Growing Up Fast
Last weekend we had a little pool time with Isaac, who loves the water.  First we went to the pool right behind our house with Isaac in his floatie.  Then we went to the pool next door, which has a large shallow area that he can crawl around on.  He really enjoyed playing with the water spout. VIDEO: April Pool Time He spends a lot...

In Sickness and in Health
About two weeks ago, Isaac's nanny took a week's vacation, and we started dropping him off at daycare (the same one that his friend Emma goes to downtown).  He had a good time and the ladies there just raved about him, but on the third day they called me to come pick him up, since he had a bit of a temperature (100 F).  He was pre...

Easter and Brian's Visit
Brian came down for a visit over Easter weekend.  He and Adam went diving several times, and even to Cozumel for an overnight trip and a few dives there.  He also came down like Santa Claus with tons of goodies for Ike from him and from Grandma Margie. One of the days we went to the pool, where Isaac got to use his new pool floatie from ...

Late March Activities
Isaac's been so active lately, getting into everything!  He loves to pull himself to a standing position on the coffee table, any cabinet knob that is nearby, and his favorite - the running stroller.  He can stand there next to the stroller for what seems like hours.  He loves to pull on the straps and the tray, and sometimes ban...

Weekend at Paradisus Playa del Carmen
Last weekend was a three-day weekend here, and we went to Playa del Carmen, as we have every year for the past three years.  However, in years past we would stay near 5th Avenue and go to the beach clubs all day.  With Isaac we decided instead to go to my hotel in Playa, the Paradisus Playa del Carmen La Esmeralda, where we could stay on ...

Dad's Spring Break Visit
My Dad came for a visit over his spring break, at the beginning of March.  He got to meet Isaac for the first time!  They had a lot of fun together, playing in the yard and in the house.  Unfortunately I had to work during two of the days, but the third day we went to the brand new Maya Museum here in the Cancun hotel zone.  It ...

February Update - Part II
Isaac can now sit up, then use his legs to rotate on his behind 360 degrees, which he does quite frequently. VIDEO: Twist VIDEO: Ike eating an apple slice He has gotten better at eating and in fact prefers his baby food to milk, but when he doesn't want something, now he'll purse his lips and breathe heavily through his nose. We discove...
